The error is:

Job ended: Friday, Febuary 29, 2008 at 23:12:21 PM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe0001207 – To support individual mailbox message and folder restores from Information Store backups, you must download and install the Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects package version 06.05.7888 or later on the Exchange 2007 server. This package can be found on the Microsoft web site.
Final error category: Resource Errors

For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-4615

The link provided doesn’t take you the download page for the ‘MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 package’.

However, here it is:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E17E7F31-079A-43A9-BFF2-0A110307611E&displaylang=en

This is for version ‘06.05.7974′ which is newer than the version suggested in the Symantec support page.  Still, it’s fine to use this version.

After installation you’ll be asked to restart the server – this is required (I tried to get away with doing a restart but it still failed).

I am testing Backup Exec 12 with hot fixes 300287, 300290, and 300699. Running on a Windows server 2003 SP2. Backing up Exchange 2007 running on Windows server 2008 64bit.

I am receiving the exception you documented here.

The Sysadmin has installed the MAPI Client package as well as other recommendations I found in the Knowledge Database:

If the error persists verify the permissions for Backup Exec Service Account:

1. Use a logon account in Backup Exec that is a unique account in Active Directory with an activated mailbox on the Exchange 2007 server. A unique name is one that does not exist in the organization as a subset of characters in another mailbox name. ( Please refer to the Related Documents section for more information.)

2. Ensure that the Backup Exec logon account has Domain Admin rights.

3. The Backup Exec logon account should be assigned the Exchange Server Administrators role in Exchange 2007.

4. Verify that the mailbox for Backup Exec Logon account is not hidden in the Global Address list.

Still receiving the exception. The Knowledge Database does not have anything concerning this exception at the BE 12 level.

Any advise?

I also have the error with regards to the Mapi thing however I have installed it a while ago.

I had many other errors along with this one I wonder if the fixes for the other ones mean that i have to reinstall the Mapi again?

Yes, reinstalling the MAPI elements is the way to go.

ps. I must proof read!

I can confirm that reinstalling MAPI+CDO 1.2.1 fixes the problem. The key is to UNINSTALL the MAPI+CDO first (if it is already installed) and then install the MAPI+CDO again. No reboot is necessary, but an install of MAPI+CDO over itself does not work…must uninstall first and then install again. My install – Windows Server 2008 EE X64, Exchange 2007 EE SP1, Symantec Backup Exec 12 w/all patches installed from LiveUpdate.

Reinstalling the MAPI/CDO does not fix the problem; the same message appears as an exception. The backup is successful, and I can see the individual mailboxes, but it won’t let me actually restore them. IO”m running Exchange 2007 on Server 2003 R2 x64, and BE 11d on Server2003 Standard. Backups work fine to disk and tape without checking the “Enable restore of individual mail…” but restoring is limited to all or nothing. Help please. Symantec does not have the answers online, and won’t talk to me without paying the fee.
